I work with indivduals and couples, I can help at times when you might be finding life difficult. As a Human Givens therapist, I focus on supporting clients to meet their emotional and physical needs in order to feel well. Maybe there have been some changes or challenges, and perhaps you’d benefit from having someone to listen and help you make sense of things.
I can support you in navigating trauma, anxiety, anger, low mood, grief and depression or even if you’re living with complex emotions that you can’t name right now.
I can help you find the path forward following challenges or traumatic events in life using the Rewind Technique (which is an effective trauma treatment). Alongside this I’ll help you find ways to help calm and settle the strong emotions, difficult thoughts and feelings that can come on the back of these experiences. These techniques allow you to build a life that works for you now, without past events getting in the way.
I have experience around adoption, and the changes and challenges this can bring to all parties.
Clients that I’ve worked with in the past have said they found it really helpful to be listened to without judgement and to have practical skills and techniques to go away and try. They’ve found it useful to work with relaxation and guided imagery, which is something I can bring into our sessions if it’s right for you. While no two client journeys look the same — an initial session will generally focus on establishing what things are like for you right now and what you would like to be different.
I will listen to you and ask questions that help us both see your situation more clearly. Our sessions may include using outcome measures (e.g. standardised evidence-based questionnaires) to get really clear information, and so we can check back and notice as things start to change.
From this point, we will work together to establish a goal for our sessions — looking at:
- Where do you want to get to?
- What do you want to be different?
- How will you know when our sessions have been helpful?
We will identify any barriers that may be getting in your way right now and how these can be overcome.
Our work together may include learning new skills, agreeing how you can practise techniques you learn in our session, or make practical lifestyle changes.
We will also work together on identifying your skills and resources and how these can be developed and used to help you. It may be that there are things in life that you can’t change and we can look at how you make sense of this and find a way forward.

Couples counselling
Sessions for couples are for people in any kind of relationship — a partnership, marriage, friendship or ex-partners co-parenting children who want to address challenges they are facing together.
You may be experiencing difficulties communicating, conflict about how each person meets their needs, challenges caused by life events such as bereavement or illness, or the complexity and challenges of raising children.
Couples may seek counselling due to an affair or infidelity, or because they are unsure if the relationship can continue.
Couples counselling sessions can help improve communication, identify practical strategies to address recurrent conflicts and help you agree a way forward.
These sessions are available in-person or online.
